establishments was appointed under the sanction of the Association . In the course of last monththe sub-committee , _having met
re-, peatedly during * the spring to mature their plans , presented a report at a meeting of the Department of Social Economy , at the
conclusion of which report they advised the formation of a visiting ject society whilst , which it would " would form lead a the centre minds of of communication various persons for to all the those
sub-, who are at present working singly amidst great discouragements . " The committee of the department received the report , and
sanctioned the establishment of the Workhouse Visiting Society , passing they are sundry sous entendu resolutions . All which that remains it is not for necessary us to do , to is to reprint give , the as
rules and resolutions of the Visiting Society itself , as agreed upon at a large meeting of ladies and gentlemen on the 9 th of the current
month . This meeting was attended by the writer of these pages ; who will conclude with an earnest hope that many who read them themselve
in different parts of the kingdom will be induced to link s on to the Society , remembering that « union is strength . '
