To the Editor of the Monthly Repository . .
Birmingham , & th M ay ^ 1809 . Sir , The friends of religious liberty and of free-inquiry , and of the late Rev . Robert Robinson , of Cambridge , are , in my opinion , much indebted to Mr . B- Flower , for the complete edition of Mr .
ltobinson ' s u Miscellaneous Works , " and for the brief Memoirs of the Author prelixed to them . lie has by this publication raisrd a monument to the mcinory ot a
man of distinguished talents and merit : and he has < viven . a collected and permanent form to scattered and fugitive pieces , which were in danger , though very valuable and useful , of falling into oblivion .
In his biographical preface , written with that yjovviiig ardour in the cause of liberty , winch was a prominent fVature m Mr .
llobinson ' s character , he mentions a IMS . exhibiting an " Historical Account of the Protestant Dissenting Churches in Cambridgeshire , '' of which he had not been able to procure a si ^ ht . A copy ot this piece , as I suppose , I hap . * pen to have . It was
communicated to me about thirty-four years a . o , o by my friend the late ilev . Josuih Thompson , ot ( Mapham , transcribed by himself and an amanuensis from the copy
which he had received from Mr . Uobinsou . * It accompanies this and asks a place in your useful Miscellany . The appearance of it will probabl y be acceptable to many of your readers , and not least so to ftlr . Flower , and other friends of Mr . Robinson . I am , Sir , Respectfully your's , Joshua TOULivnw
? It will be evident to the reader , that the conclusion of the " Historical Ac * count ' was drawn up by Mr . Thompson . —Ed .
