In here is now printing , under the careand direction of Walter Scott , Esq . in one vol . 8 vo . the two following works from original MSS . viz . Memoirs of Sir Henry Slin | pby , Bart , from 1638 to 1648 , by himself , and Memoirs of Capt ,
J ohn Hodgson , touching his Conduct in the Civil Wars , and his Troubles after the Restoration , by himself . To these will be added , Copies of various important Papers relative to the Operations of Oliver Cromwell and his Army while they were in Scotland .
Dr . Gilbert Gerard , Professor of Divinity in the University and King ' s College , Aberdeen , has in the press , in one vol . 8 vo . Institutes of Biblical Criticism * or , Heads of a Course of -Lectures on that Subject . From the known liberality of the Professor , we . expect that he will add by this work to the stock of standard books in rational theology .

accompanied with elucidatory Notes . This poem is of the highest antiquity , and is regarded with extreme veneration by the -Hindoos * It furnishes a clue to the ancient history of India , and gives a complete idea of the Hindoo mythology . It must therefore be interesting to the students and admirers of Oriental
literature . It is supposed that it will make nine volumes , the price of which to subscribers in Europe will be five guixicas each vohnne .
