The punctuation of such a work is a very material circumstance ; and we have seen no reason for dissatisfaction on this point . The typograp hical execution of the
work does great credit to the printer and to the editors ; but we take for granted that the merit of the peculiarities in punctuation rests with the latter . Several important instances occur , in which the
sense is affected by" the punctuation , and in which that of Newcome is very judiciously left ; e . g . Matt . xxv . 26 * xxvii . 42 V Mark i . 34 . John iv . 37 . 38 . vii . 28 . xiiv 2 ?* . " In a small
number of c&seS we feel doubtful respecting the punctuation of the I . V . viz . Mark ix . 23 . Luke xii . 49- Actsxxvi . 28 . which are all that . we have noticed .
—Respecting the paragraphs we are less satisfied . Ih the gospels the divisions are founded on Newcome r s Harmony ; and in addition to the initial capitals they very often
l > reak the apparent continuity of the history ; see for instance Matt . viii . 1 , 2 .
The orthography is a very minor consideration ; but we just notice it to express our regret that
Newcome ' s murther and murtherer had been uniformly changed .
