# 1 ' M anchester New College , removed to York . ''
The ^ Committcc of the Man c bester $ ew Co llegr are desirous to submit the following circumstances to the consideration of their numerous friends . When this Institution was removed
from Manchester , and placed under the able direction of the Rev . Charles Wellbeloved , the only difficulty which occurred , arose from the want o £ proper apartments for the students . Mr . Wellbeloved could accommodate in his own house only a wary limited number , and as his family grew up , even , this , ceased to be convenient to him . To obviate
the difSe » kyj apartments were engaged in different lodging-houses in York , in which the students were placed . But besides the heavy expense attending tfeis mode of ac ^ on ^ mp dating them , especially as their number increased , there , were ,
several < othe . r obvious objections . Tha $ the force of these was not seriousjy ^ felt , affords a striking testimony to the ^ excelr lent principles and - virtuous conduct of the youog men who have hitherto been students in this institution . It would
have been unreasonable , however , to expect that this should always continue ta ; b $ the case ; an £ the w ^ nt of pef rn ^ n , n ^ ac £ ommpdarioj ^ i ^ w ^ ich t&e stu ^ dgn ^ might ^ l . fc lodge XQg&tbpt * , uW&u tjje immediate super ^ t ^ ndancfc-of tb * 2 tgfjys , ha : ^ in 4 ee 4 > cen stated J ? fc se ^ e / at mmt $ * » # mwm&twGOhiP&yxk&Q tftfir l ^ aciMS ; tfee | r sons m t&a , S 9 li fg * K jlfc

gether with the interest , by small annual instalments . The classical and mathematical tutors , and the students already-occupy the greater part of the premises ; and the remainder is let to
respectable tenants , but may be resumed , in whole or in part 4 , at any future ^ time , if wanted- for- the purposes of the college . The whole ^ produces a rent fully- sufficient to discharge the interest of the pur * chase-money . In the payment- of the
principal it will be necessary to appropriate not less than 150 ! .. per annum , hom the dirrem income of the college , till the whole is redeemed To this extent , there will of course bje a diminution in the funds applicable to the education of divinity students , and the number must , therefore , of necessity , be smaller than might otherwise be admitted . Many zealous friends to the
institution : ha ^ Q expressed their regret at this ci £ Curns > Mice , and are anxious that , at a tipfje , wk&n so many congregafions , iii < li £ Ferent p ^ r ts of the cou ntry , are in waatpf ministers , a general effort should be made , a ^ aipjng the English , Presbyterian Dissenters , to increase the number
of this class of students . They have urged the Committee to state these facts to the Dissenting public , and to set onfoot , a , subscription for the , express purpose of relieving the fundU frpm this charge of ^ 50 ! per ann in . order , thaf the entire income of the-college may be ) aDD ^ c ^ bje , to thj ^ impejrtan i : object Xpew hay fe , at the san ^ e times eaforced by the of
