appear to stand fifr Gilbert Cterke , with whose history , opinions arid styFe , the letter perfectly agrees . The readers of the TVfbnthiy Repository will he pleased with this hitherto unpublished production of one of the earfy English Unitarians , which will , perhaps , be rendered still inore interesting by 9 uch

the ultimate success of his researches . Gilbert Cjlbukb was the son of John Clerke , schooUinaster , of Uppingham , in the county ot Rutland . He was admitted into Sidney College , Cambridge , in the year 1641 , being then scarcely fifteen vears of m In 1648 , he took the degree of M . A ., and was made Fellow pf the house .
At the age of twenty-five , he received ( 1651 ) Preabylerian orders , and his allowance in the college was there * upon augmented , as the statutes require for those that are ordained priests . He was created procttfr of the University the neit year . He
