sir , June l 6 1808 , If the following notes on Matthew xxvif 28 , should be found suitable to tlie plan of your Kepository 3 please to insert them in
one of your early numbers . I remain , very respectfully , Your ' s , &c . P . K .
On comparing the words of Matthew x . wi . 28 j with their Greek original , as they stand in Wetstein s Greek Testament , every one of the three clauses appeared to my mind to be remarkably elliptical or abbreviated .
After a little attention , I imagined that the requisite omissions might be easily supplied , both in English and Greek . Leaving the latter to be performed by those that are learned in the Greek language , I attempted to introduce every

corresponding or belonging to that figure . In the eucharistic records or histories , the terms or words bod ) and blood are mere metaphors or figures : they are allowed to bo so by the best Protestant ( yea by the Unitarian Protestant ) divines and expositors , at least while they arc levelling their arguments against the Roman Catholics . Hence then ariseth a
necessity of something more than mere grammatical accuracy in the translation of Matthew xxvu 28 ; the plain and literal sense and precise truth must be ascer * tained ; and in the present case ^ I conceive this plain and sentimental correctness may be ex-
