Few periodical works can boast of such a valuable and extensive gratintQtis Correspondence as the Monthly Repository . Flattering as this circumstance is , the Editor has had frequently to lament , that the narrow limits in which he is confined has prevented him , in many ca-es , from giving such a prompt insertion to respectable communications as was desirable . Thus situated , he has been compelled to solicit the candour and indulgence of his correspondents ; nor has he solicited in vain . At the same time he states -with reluctance , that some anonymous contributors have displayed a degree of impatience with regard to the appearance of their papers whit h is very unreasonable . More than one instancy has lately occurred of a communication , possessing no temporary interest , * n 4 .
