r The hint thrown out by H . E * * vith respect to the patronage of the Christian Tract Society , is
one which I should imagine would meet with general approbation ^ and will . I hope bespeedily adopt - ed * I should be rejoiced to find that the , committee , of that society
had taken it into consideration , and should look upon their carrying this measure into effect , and publishing a complete set of books , well adapted for Sunday School tuition * as one of the most
important acts of the society . — This appears clearly to me to come within the scope of the institution , being so well calculated to diffuse the knowledge and practice of Christianity , amongst the
lower classes , which would thus , \ ve may reasonably hope , extend to future generations . But should it be thought too wide a deviation from the original plan , there can be but little doubt that a society
for the , express purpose of publishing and vending , at reduced prices , regular series of books , for the use of Sunday Schools , would meet with every encouragement . Most
cordially welcomed it would be fay numbers whs have attended these establishments , and cannot but have experienced and lamenttd the inconveniences which the
want of such publications has occasioned . * . 1 shaUlook with eagerness to

their shorter numbers on sheets of paper , so that they may be pasted to the walls of the houses ,

Eulogy on the lattrMr * IVake * Jield . Sir , \ I found lately , among some pa ~ pers , one . of the Parisian Journals for 1 S 01 , and enclose an article
from it which , on account of the subject , you may wish to preserve in your Repository . The intro * ductory sentence , describing Mrv Wakefield as one of the founderg
and leaders of the sect «* of - the Methodists ^ is a curious specimen of the ignorance prevailing ia France , respecting our . religious distinctions . The rest of the
article appears to be an abridged translation of a paper first given in the Morning Chronicle , a fevr days after Mr . Wake field ' s death , and which his friends who edited
and continued his Memoirs , republished in their second volume , and attributed to the pen of the Rev * Dr . Lindsay .
