For heanty of typography and correctness of the text , the publisher wiU challenge competition—and fcr cheapness he trill defy all . Gentlemen , —Amongst the many cures performed by your invaluable medicines , I may mention one—the person does not wish his name to appear in public print , but you may refer to me for the facte of the case . A man , whom disease had so affected his face that it was one complete outbreak , and so disgusting that ho was obliged to keep it covered , and , after trying several remedies , but all in vain , was induced to try your Poor Man ' s Friend and Pills . After using a pot and a box of pills , he seemed to grow worse ; but through my persuasion he continued the medicine , aud when he had used the fourth pot of ointment , and alsothe pills , ho was completely cured , and has remained so ever since , now nearly six months . Many other remarkable instances of cures I have known , inasmuch as I positively think it is one of the best medicines I am acquainted with , for the diseases to which it is recommended . Yours respectfully , Jes . S . Weib . AXOTHER CURE OF A FOURTEEX YEAKS ' ASTHMATIC COUGH , Read the following extract of a letter just received from Mr . Edward Preston , coal-raerchant , Paragon-street , Hull , dated April 6 , 1815 : — Sir , —Grateful for the relief my wife has experienced by the use of Locock ' s Pulmonic Wafers , from a distressing asthmatic cough , with which she was afflicted for the last fourteen years , I feel a great desire that her surprising cure should be made knawn , for the benefit of those suffering as she did . Yours , < fcc , Edwabd Pbeston . ANOTHER EXTIUORDIXAEY CURE OF ASTHMA . From i £ r . J . Wnterhouse , surgeon , ifcc ,. Broad-street , Halifax . Dated April 1 , IS 13 . Gentlemen , —I cm conscientiously bear testimony to the general good effects of Dr . Locock ' s Wafers , as very many after a trial have called upon mc to express their satisfaction and gratitude . The following case is but a sample of many others in which the medicine bos surprised the patient by its rapidity in working a wonderful cure : — A female residing in tho neighbourhood of Halifax hod long been subject to a confirmed asthmatic cough , when her husband applied to me . He said he was persuaded she could not live many days , as from cough and want of rest she was so much enfeebled ; and the use of medicine , in which she had persevered for many months , hud given her no relief . The very first dose of the Wafers wrought a surprising change ; they soothed her cough , aud gave her a comfortable and refreshing sleep ; and , by persevering in their use , her strength has returned , and without the aid of any other medicine this patient , who had been a long and apparently hopeless sufferer , is now fully restored to health . This case I can vouch for , and can satisfy any inquiries by reference to the parties . Yours , & c , J . Waterhousb . REMARKABLE CASE OF IMPROVEMENT OF THE VOICE . PARR'S LIFE PILLS . JJEAD the following letter from Mr . W . Alexander , \ i Bookseller , Yarmouth : — Groat Yarmouth , March 27 , 1845 . Gentlemen , —Being recently at Norwich , I colled « pon a gentleman at ids request . He said , having seen your name in a newspaper as an agent for the sale of PARR'S PILLS , and also letters addressed to you testifying their efficacy in the cure of various eomplaints , I resolved to try them . I had been very unwell fur two or three years , : ny stomach much out of order , and I constantly felt a painful difficulty in breathing j I employed two moiical gentlemen , and took a great quantity of medicine , but derived no benefit ; on the contrary , I found myself daily declining and getting weaker , so that 1 could scarcely walk from one street to another ; indeed I was in a melancholy desponding state . Accordingly , I purchased a box ,, and look them as directed . At the end of a week I was much better , having taken , I think , only eighteen pills ; consequently , I continued taking them regularly , and when I had taken two boxes and a hair " , I became quite well , aud to this day I have enjoyed life , having now good health and good spirits . If , hov . ever , I feel any slight indisposition , I have recourse to the medicino I have so inuch reason to prize , which restores mo to my usual good health . This gentleman wished his ewe to be made public , although for obvious reasons he could not authorise mo to give his name . This timid , perhaps in some eases , prudent cautiousness is not uncommon . A neighbouring gentleman has several times admitted to me that he derives great benefit from the occasions ! use of Parr ' s medicines , but will not permit me to mention it to any one . "— . Extract from a Farmer ' s Letter . "Tliis really useful little volume ought to be in th e hands of every one at all connected with agricultural pursuits . "—Uoyd's Weekly London Nncsitapcr . " Although we feel no desire , in the language of fte proud Peruvian , in contemplating what wc hope to rejoice in , the contentment , prosperity , andcoiefort of ourfcu » men , to exclaim— " This , this is ir . y work ; " nor is 0 u _ object , as Mr . O'Connor declares his to be , " that each man who is willing to work may be independent of ev 0 rv other man in the world for his daily bread , " yet we ca with much pleasure recognise in the book before « ,, powerful instrument for aiding in developing iimut . much higher destiny than he has hitherto attained , "Mr 6 'Connorshews clearly , what will soon ltea | , j , arent t 5 all who reflect deeply , that we are not left without the means of obtaining not only all that is physicall y rcipij site for man ' s progress , but also that we may readil y pi ^ dice what is apparently desirable ; for none who carefully psruse this work can doubt that a system of sinuil farms held by active and industrious labourers , would anipU return , in exchange for healthful exertion , far more Uiaa s requisite to preserve physical strength . "He also shews that something more than this isroqut . site to ensure happiness , for he says in page lit , " \ fMl convinced that man can place no reliance whatever upon bis fellow man , or a community of men , when circum . stances operate upon his or their minds , the intiucuca and effect of which would be stronger than any abstract notions of justice . For instance , if a community of \ %% bowing men purchase a quantity 1 ' land , and hirolj . hour for its cultivation , however just their intentions anj pure their motives , they will nevertheless feel themselves justified in raising tho price of tho land , according to thj improved value conferred upon it by the labour of tho hired workman . This power of steadily trenching upoq the rights of others is one of the greatest disadvantage against which the labourer has to contend ; ami those hired by a community , at the end of twenty years won ! i be in no better condition than they were at startm ? , while the community of proprietors would have increased fta value of their property twenty-fold ; that is , they would have robbed those labourers , by whose industry the ruins was increased , of nineteen shillings in the pound . " " These remarks are powerful arguments in tho sphere in which they are written , and if examined in tlieir rela , tion to the universal , thay confirm , the testimony that " The earth is the Lord ' s , and . all that therein is . ha round world aud they that dwell therein ; " for after partaking freely of what is good for each order of creation , any self-appropriation , by whatever parties in . dulgcd in , is from evil , and will produce its consequence , namely , vice , crime , and * misery . " We can strongly recommend Mr . O'Connor ' s work to onr readers , containing a great amount of practical ifttbr . mation on agriculture , which should bo most popularl y diffused .
