The Corn Market. Monday.—During The, Pas...
THE CORN MARKET . Monday . —During the , past week the arrival of grain into this market was not large , either of our own growth or of foreign , the principal supply ^ consisting of wheat , the amount being on the whole 17 , 974 quarters . The aspect the trade wore on every market day was anything but lively , various causes combining to contract business , and also tobring with it its consequent tendency , namely , the depression . of prices . The chief feature , however , that must be regarded as influencing the trade is _ undoubtedly to be attributed to the continued fineness of the weatherthere being scarcely any grain or any soil hut
, must , afterthe late weather , receive immense benefit from the present the relief of the foreign corn has also a prospective influence , but had the weather been the reverse of ' what i t is , with such moderate supplies our , trade must have rallied considerably . '¦ ' •'' ;¦ This morning there was a limited supply of wheat and other grain fresh up to the market . The wheat trade opened dull , and , although the rates of this day week have been supported , sales were very slow . '; ,, ' , Barley steady . The oat tradehas been slow at Friday ' s prices , Beans and peas of all sorts firm . There has been hut little inquiry for other articles at generally steady quotations . , . - ¦'; .. ;•

PROVINCIAL MARKETS . Richmond ( Yobkshihe ) Cons Market , Saturdav . — Wo had a good supply of wheat in our market to-day , hut the supply of oats was only thin . —Wheat sold from 5 s . to 8 s . 6 d . ; oats , 3 s . 3 d . to 4 s . 6 d . ; barley , 4 s . to 4 s . 3 d . ; beans , 5 s , to 5 s . 6 d . per bushel . Wakefield Corn . ' Makket , Fhimt . —We have an extremely limited supply of all grain , with the exception of beans .. We had a fair demand for fresh wheat , at fully hist week ' s rates . In other qualities little done . As maltstera have done working , barley is almost nominal . Fine small beans readily sold at former rates ; other sorts rather lower . Oats and shelling had a ready sale at fovmer rates .
Manchester Corn * Market , Saturday . —During the week the business done in . all articles has been of the most retail character , and , although it is generally admitted that their stocks are reduced to an unusually narrow compass , the dealers and bakers purchase only from an absolute necessity for immediate consumption . Few sales of wheat were reported at our market this morning , and no change in quotations can bo made . With a moderate inquiry from the trade , there is no variation to note in the value of choice and superfine qualities of English or Irish flour ; but middling and inferior descriptions are exceedingly difficult to dispose of , and prices nominal . Oatmeal is scarce , but the demand for this article is only on a limited scale . Oats and beans met a very slow sale at lateratcs .
Warrington Corn Market , Webkesdav . —At the market on Wednesday last but few farmers were present , and the business done was not sufficient to enable us to quote correct prices . Millers and bakers are buying from "hand to mouth ; " hut , as the Corn Importation Rill is . carried , which every one now expects , more business will be done . Of potatoes there was a moderate supply ; sales , pillK eyes , 12 . ? , to 13 s , 6 d . ; cups , lis . to Us . 6 d . ; blue farmers , Ss . ; white apples , 9 s . per load of 25 Mbs . Hull Corn Market , Tuesday—Wo hare to report the same dullness and inactivity in the corn , trade that we did last week , as we have still no supply of old wheat . At to-day ' s market there was very little - wheat offering , and for that farmers n ' ro asking extravagant prices ; our millers were , therefore , shy buyere at the rates of last week . In spring corn very little passing at late prices . In linseed or rapeseed nothing doing . Linseed cakes keep dull , In rape cakes some business has been done . In bones a fair business passing . Guario unaltered .
Birmingham Corn Exchange , Wednesday . —Durin" - the present week there has been ' little disposition to buy wheat ; but we do not observe uny alteration in prices . tvnues . ' NoTTiNonAM—A . fair quantity of finished goods have left the market since our last report .. But little has been done in sales of rough goods . Prices remain unaltered , both of bobbin-nets and yarns . —Nottingham Mercury , Glasgow . —Cotton Yarn i There has been but a limited business this week , and last week ' s prices are barely maintained . : Cotton Goods : The market still continues flat . For most descriptions there is little inquiry , and prices continue nominal . The depression , we think , has been rathc-r increased since the arrival- of the East India nrid . mnu , the accounts received being very unfavourable , for Glasgow manufactures generally . Iron : Prices are iron
as follows : —Pig , £ 3 15 s . ; bar iron , £ 910 s . ; nailrods £ 10 10 s . ; boiler plates and sheets , £ 13 13 s . per ton . American produce : Sweet barrel , best Canadian , 30 s .-sour barrel flour , best Canadian . 30 s . to 31 s . per barrel ' 1 st Montreal pots , 23 s . fid . ; 1 st Montreal pearls , 23 s . Cd . '> lard , common , 44 s . ; lard , refined , 47 s . to 48 . ; cheese ' States , 58 s . per cwt . The market for American produce continues without change . We do not alter our quotations of prices , as there has been almost nothing doing . The flour market is very dull , and will show no activity till the new measure becomes law . . Tots and pearls are nearly out of first hands , andthere will be nothing done in them till the new importation . Lard moves slowly at the prices quoted . Cheese is inquired for , but there is little in the market .

Child Murdeb,—Mr. Waldey, M.P., Held An ...
Child Murdeb , —Mr . Waldey , M . P ., held an inquest at the Doves' public house , Hammersmith , on the body of a newly-born male child , which had been picked up in the river Thames , with marks of injury on its head . It appeared from the evidence adduced that on TlvuTsday last , as a person named Edward Nelson Moore , living in British School House Lanft Cbiswick , was walking along the mall , he saw the body of the deceased child lying between the piles on the bank of the river , near the sewer leading fro » the West Middlesex Water Works . He immediately
called the attention of George Eariain , living « j George Street , Hammersmith Road , but they dltt not remove it , and only put a piece of matting 0 V « it until the arrival of the Hammersmith beaalei when it was carried to that house . Mr . T . M . C > Perfect , of Hammersmith Terrace , deposed t « having examined the body , and gave his decided opinion that it had come to its death from tb fl effects of the violence it had received on its head . # had received no medical attention at its birth . ' ^ Jury returned a verdict of ' Wilful Murder" again 3 ' aome person or persons unknown ,
