Determined Suicide . —An inquest was held at the Barleymow Mount-street , Grosvenor-gquare before Mr , Higgs and a respectable jury , on view 9 f the body of a young man ¦ unknown ,. - ¦ apparently about twenty years of age , who destroyed himself by drowning in the SeVpentine river . George Cooper sergeant of police , deposed that on Wednesday even ! ing last , between nine and ten o ' clock , he was ok duty in Hy ^ e-park , when , in crossing the head or dam of the Serpentine fiver , he heard a -noise as if of a person struggling in the water , but it being at the time pitch dark , he was unable to discover any . thing ; he however hastened to the water ' s ed

" Witness heard the words plainly , and through the dafkntss he could discern a man struggling in the water about twenty yards from the head of the river and fifty from the north shore . Be reason she did not call , in a medical man to her mother was , that she feared she might be treated in a similar manner .
