Harper & Brothers , of New York , for the publication ( simultaneously with the American issue ) of a European Edition of this celebrated Magazine , to commence with the New Volume , Dec . 1 , 1880 . Novel The Eng by lish Mr issue . Thomas will commence Hardy with , written the first instalment exclusively of a Mr for Hardy this Magazine ' s Story will which be illustrated will run for by the first Mr . Twelve George Months du Maurier . In other respects the Magazine will present all the attractive features which have gained for it unprecedented celebrity in the New World . It will be published at One Shilling , and containing 160 pages large 8 vo . with about a Hundred Illustrations , will be beyond question the cheapest , best illustrated , and most entertaining periodical ever put before the British public . An Illustrated Prospectus is in preparation , and Booksellers in Town and Country wishing to obtain a supply for distribution are requested to apply immediately to the publishers . N . B . —The Publishers have already had to double their first order , and the first edition of the December Number ( commencing the New Volume ) consists of Ten Thousand Copies ( GUARANTEED ) . ADVERTISEMENTS IN HARPER'S MAGAZINE . In reply to numerous enquiries respecting Advertisement space in this Magazine , the Publishers beg to state that already ( Nov . 13 ) nearly all the special positions are let to first-class advertisers for twelve months .
