Lord Derby Has Announced That The Respon...
Lord Derby has announced that the responsibility of the decision not to prevent last Monday ' s meeting by force , rested not with Mr . Walpole ^ but with the Cabinet . We have reason to believe , however , that it is necessary to look still higher for the origin of the determination that force should not be used ; and that the unwavering loyalty of the people to the Throne has been recognized and rewarded by a generous confidence which was imposed upon and did not originate with the Ministry .

We hear , on good authority ; , that the Prussian preparations for war have been as actively carried on during the past week as before the Congress was spoken of . Strangers are no longer admitted to the . Arsenal at Berlin , where , however , a , great deal of packing-up is visible ;
In Anticipation Of The Blood-Thirsty Str...
In anticipation of the blood-thirsty struggle which was expected to take place on the following day , the-whole of last Sunday was spent at Wool wick dockyard , in making staves for the special constables . As they were never used , we would suggest that the wood might have been more usefully employed in making heads for some of the higher authorities .

There Is No Truth Whatever In The Report...
There is no truth whatever in the report that Count Bismarck met Prince Gortschakoff secretly in Pomerania . The Prince was seen walking on the Court Quay with his beautiful neice at the time he was supposed in Berlin to be forming a tender alliance with , Mr . Bismarck .

Linda , says she cannot love me , And what e ' er I say , Turns her head away . Neither do the stars above me , Twinkling as they glisten , To my praises listen . So shall Linda , though she slight me , Still for evermore delight me . Linda , when I praise her graces , Tells me that there are Others fairer far . So I , ' mid strange lands and faces , Find wherein I roam , Fairer spots than home . Yet shall home and Linda be 3 £ ver best beloved by me . \
