The Profits are divided annually , and applied m reduction of the current Premiums . Policy-holders participate in Profits after payment of five annual Premiums . The Annual General Meeting was held on the 2 Sth of May , 1856 , when a highly satisfactory Report of the state of the affairs and progress of the Institution was presented to tne Members , louring the last three years , upwards of 1200 new assurances have been effected , yielding an increase of premium income of more than 20 . 000 / . per annum ; ^ an < i although a general high rate of mortality has prevailed among Assured lives during the last two years it has not been deemed necessary to reduce , in the slightest degree , tne allowances previously awarded to the-Policy-holders . The Members present at the Meeting were fully satisfied with the Report , and resolved unanimously that a reduction of Sli per cent , should be made in the current year ' s Premium payable by all Policy-holders now entitled to participate in the Profits . Credit is allowed for half the Annual Premiums for the first five years . The following Table exemplifies the effect of the present reduction .
