Madagasoab . — A few weeks since ( says a - . £££ accounts were received in this country that ceralfo reigners lad been sent out of the island of IJagascar , and that a number of native Christmns had * n put to death . It appears by intelligence just refvedtbat the Christians were not the only sufferers , t that numbers of the heathens suffered also ; nor did e Christians suffer on account of their Christianity , t rather because , in common w ith others , they had happily become in some way implicated m P ""^ Dvements affecting the existing Government of the Colossi . Ouseley . — This unhappy gentleman , who ently made some wild statements at the Marlborougli-« et police-court , has now been again placed under ifinement . He contrived to escape from the persons lo had the charge of him at his lodgings , but was taken o custody by the police on account of his strange aduct in the streets . After a long search his friends and him in a workhouse at the east-end of London , in
pauper dress . The Duke of Cambridge on Army Matters . — the anniversary dinner , on Wednesday evening , of s Hosp ital for Diseases of the Chest , the Duke of mbridge , who was in the chair , made some remarks , which , after deny ing most emphatically a report that did not properly appreciate Sir Colin Campbell , he = rred to the question of the sanitary condition of the ny . It had been said that the Horse Guards was inrerent to the soldier ' s comfort ; but that was not the « . The very contrary was the fact . " But he did ; hold the purse-strings of the nation ; and , though might represent a certain state of facts which gene-; iy were admitted , he was met by the answer , that might be all very true and very desirable , but the . vernment had no money . Well , he could not coin jney , and , if the feeling of the country was that much it for the
ould and much ought to be done , was country give the money , or otherwise the desire to improve b condition of the army could not be carried out . He b very strongly on this point , and , as he had not had earlier opportunity of giving utterance to the sentints that impressed him , he trusted that they would cuse him if he gave vent to remarks which were not strict accordance with charitable meetings of this seription . All he could say was , that the very imjvements which had been introduced into the army d caused the barrack accommodation of the army to curtailed . They had had libraries and readingms , but it was a great mistake to suppose that they 3 added to , because in truth they had been taken out the barrack accommodation of the soldier . That had sn done because it was a cheaper method , apparently , 1 the men had heen crowded up in their rooms to meet : feeling of the nge . "

CORN MARKET . Mark-lane , Friday , March 19 . The arrivals of English wheat at the Corn Exchange during the week have been very moderate . The show of samples has been but small , and sales very dull at barely stationary prices . About five thousand quarters of foreign wheat have been reported ; but there has been very little inquiry for any descriptions . The show of barley is poor ; oats are in moderate request at previous currencies ; malt and flour have been dull , and beans and peas firm . More than 15 , 000 barrels of American flour have come into the market , operating to the further depression of prices .
