Health qv London . —The Registrar-General's returns state that the total deaths registered in the metropolitan districts , which in the previous week -were 1 , 156 , rose to 1 , 226 in the week that ended last Saturday . In the ten years , 1849-58 , the average number of deaths in the weeks corresponding with last week , was 1 , 223 ; but as the deaths in the
present return occured in a population winch has increased , they can only be compared-with the average raised in proportion to that increase , a correction which -will make it 1 , 345 . The public health is , therefore , nt present , so far in a satisfactory state that the deaths were less by 119 than the number -which the average rate of mortality for the end of February would have produced .
