"The Ptflpit'' is a fair object of criticism , and Qnesimus is not wholly unqualified , ( oi : lhe office of " -a censor . His vvoii is frequently entertaining , and sometimes judicious . -Preachers may learn from him to correct awk * . ward nesses and to renvedy glaring defects . -
Onesimus is , however not a little faulty in his styJe , pompous in his tone , aful trrtting in his remarks . He views himself with too much complacency , arid the pulpit with too much awe . His jeligion is - mysticism ; - and the teachers of religion are to- him very reverend persons . This volume is , we conclude from the Title-page , intended jto be introductory to others . We would not , with all the faults of the \ tfork discourage the design ; for no where aVe more foppery and folly to be found than if 1 the pulpit .
