application on the part of twenty pew-holders , or renters and oc « cu piers of seats in a Dissenting Chapel , in Wales , and of the clergyman elected Jby them , ' to have the defendant , who hadbeea already restrained from interrupt * ing them in the free exercise of
divine worship in that chapel , also restrained from proceeding against them at law . In the year 1749 , a piece of ground had been conveyed to trustees , for Che purpose of erecting a Dissenting chapel far the use of the inhabitants of
the parish , and the same had been otherwise endowed . All the original trustees were dead , and the defendant , as the representative of the last surviving trustee elaiiped to himself the sole right of management and direction of the
affairs of the chapel . The pewholders , as ba 4 been the constant practice , proceeded to the clec tionof a minister , op a vacancy occurring , and made choice of the plaintiff , Mr . Evans . The defendant also took upon himself the
sole right of election , and of himself , and without consulting the congregation , made choice of another person to be minister . He afterwards , in order to interrupt the plaintiffs in their proceedings , put a . lock upon the door , which the Plaintiffs having removed , ihe Defendant threatened them with
an action of trespass . The Plaintiffs h ^ d already Procured an injunction , restraining the Defendant from interrupting the Plaintiffs in the exercise of divine worship in the chapel , and
they now prayed for a similar injunction , restraining him from all proceeding at law , till the present suit shall be disposed of .
