Part may be supplied by himself . He adds , "The following' editions of the Bible read " our joy" in 1 John L 4 :

Meaning' of ko < t [ m <; in Christ ? $ Dis ~ courses . Sir , UPON a review ( too hasty , perhaps ) of . the several texts in which this word occurs , it strikes me
that the great Missionary himself t * e ^ ver once designated by it , the " gb > pe or planet which we inhabit aa Qffoo&ed to heaven , or to any other jwrafcttljair ubi in the universe , but always < &pA only , either mankind generally , ' ojp uie unenlightened and immoral part of
mankind as opposed to the kingdom which he was Bent to set up or enlarge upon earth . If my conclusion be the result of misapprehension , sotiie of your correspondents would obikje me by pointing out the paJtrticular
instances of erroneous interpretation . Should it prove just , —is it , or is it not probable that the apostles invaria bly used the term in the same sense only ? CLBRICUS .

Sir , Nov . 23 , 1822 . AM requested by the Committee I of the Unitarian Fund to make the following communication through the Repository , respecting William Roberts and the Unitarian cause at
Madras . Some time ago I wrote to him to request he would inform me , what sum would be sufficient for the maintenance of himself and family , in case he were to devote the whole of his time to the charge of the Unitarian interest at Purstfivaukum , &c . ? In a letter which I 4 lately received from the that the

least , of making some provision towards defraying the expenses of his assistants , at the chapel and in the schools , they are decidedly of opinion that not less than one hundred pounds
per annum should be sept out to Madras , if such a sum could be raised . They regret that their own funds are inadequate to meet such a charge , in addition to their other oirfeets ; but from the interest which this case has
excited , they feel encouraged to hope , that they shall be enabled , by the liberality 01 the Unitarian public , to remit this amount within no very distant period . The Committee will have great pleasure in receiving
contributions to the funds of the Society to aid in the accomplishment of this object ; but should it be the wish of any persons that the money given by them should be applied to the creation of a separate fund to be devoted exclusively to the Madras case , the Committee
pledge themselves to act in strict conformity with their instructions to this effect . The contributions may be forwarded to John Christie , Esq ., Mark Lane , the Treasurer ; T , Hornby , Esq ., 31 , Swithin ' s Lane , Sub-Treasurer ; Rev . W . J . Fox , Dalston , Secretary ; or to me at No . 39 , Paternoster Row . THOMAS REES .
