New Unitarian Chapel , Sunderlands On Stinday , the 29 th of May , the New Unitariau chapel at Sunderlaud was opened by the Rev . William Turner , of Newcastle . The morning service was taken from the Liturgy of the Church , and the' sermon > from Ps : 3 txvi . 8 , on the Expediency of Public Social Worship , and the Necessity of Holiness to its acceptable performance , concluded with
a short statement of the grounds of the Unitarian doctrine , partly for the information of the strangers present , and partly with the view of shewing the members of the congregation how much they were bound to justify their separation from the popujar worship by the excellence of their general conduct . The
preacher in the afternoon ( from 2 Tim . ii . 7 ) urged the necessity of considering what their ministers said , in order that they might understand . In the evening ( from Eph \ iv . 1 ) he exhorted them to walk worthy of the vocation wherewith they were called .
The chapel is a very neat and indeed handsome building , capable of seating comfortably about four hundred persons . Great pains have been taken to apply the siliplest and most scientific principles to secure its complete ventilation in summer , and its comfortable warmth iu winter .
