Of English bin lev and malt the receipts were tolerably- -rood , but those ot oats , beans , pens , and flour , were small . From Scotland , very _l-. Ulc grain of anv description crime to iiand , while the only arrival from Ireland was live quarters of malt . The fresh supply of foreign wheat and oats was seasonably extensive , but that of all oilier articles was limited . Fresh up to-day , only a limited supply of wheat came to hand coastwise and by land carriage and sample , hence the stands were s-eantily supplied with samples of that grain in very bad condition . The unccrininty which still exists respecting the nature of the forthcoming change in the Coin Laws , caused the dealers to purchase with
extreme caution . Wc have therefore to report a very dull inquiry for English wheat , and where sales were effected the holders were compelled to submit to a _f'lrthei' decline in the quotations of from Is . to in some instances , 2 s . per quarter , and at which a clearance was not effected . The show of free foreign wheat was small , nevertheless inquiry for it was extremely dull , yet we can notice no decided alteration iu value , tho importers not being disposed to accept uf lower ligiiria underoxistiii _* . so little indeed that the rates were almost nominal . The supplies brought forward were beneath average ones . The quantity of English barley on show was rather more than equal to the wants of the buyers . Selected qualities of malting may be considered quite as dear , but grinding and distilling sorts wcre a trifle easier . At the close of the market a large portion of the latter was left over . There was a fair supply 0 f malt on oifcr . Although the malt trade was far from active , about an average business was doing at about prcviouscuvrcncies . Notwithstanding the extremely
short supply of oats , holders of * that article were nimble to obtain higher prices , the oat trade ruling inactive at about stationary rates . Tlie dealers generally are now short of stock . The supply of beans was by no means large , yet the sale was heavy , and the rates had a downward tendency . Of peas , the quantity on offer was but moderate . All kinds sold heavily at barely , bnt at nothing quotable beneath , last Monday's prices . The Hour trade waa very dull , and it was with difficulty that the millers obtained late rates , even for the best town-made qualities .

_Loxftos SMiiiimLD Cattle Market , _Moniut , Jas . 10 . —During tho past week the imports of live stock into London have been on a very extensive scale , viz ., 250 oxen and cows , and 300 * sheep ironi Rotterdam ; 104 cows and oxen , and 150 sheep from llarlingen , and 49 cows , 20 oxen , and o 70 sheep from Schiedam , in , generally speaking , excellent condition ; indeed , many of the cows have come to hand in first-rate order . To-day we had on sale SCO foreign beast * , and -120 ditto sheep , which attracted more than usual attention from the butchers , who purchased the ¦ _v- . hole on offer , at prices varyin * j from . £ 10 10 s . to £ 23 10 s . per head for the beasts " , and Sis . to 44 s . per head for tlie sheep . We are informed that the foreign beasts continue to carry a large quantity of internal fat . At Hull , 40 beasts , ll
sheep , and 37 pigs have been received from Uollar . d , nearly the whole of which have been frrwarded into the manufacturing districts . The Norfolk season lor beasts having now commenced , upwards of 400 Scots and homebreds were received thence this morning , which , together with the arrivals from all other parts of V-ngland , were uf very superior quality ; better , in fact , than we have observed on any previous market day during t he whole of the present year . Devons , runts , & e ., from other parts of England S 00 of various kinds , from Scotland SO Scots , and from Ireland _i'l beasts , came fresh to hand : the remainder of tiic bullock supply being principally derived from abroad
