NO Medicine jet offered to tliewM ever so rapidly ^ fnea sneh aisen guisted celebri ty : it is quesuona-Heif ^ et n 'Tanygrt of the civi . ised globe where S Ordinary healing virtues have not been exhibited ™ " «;< t . * l success is not attributable to any system of adverting , bot solely to the strong recommendations of Sto ei ^ a by their use . The Proprietors of Parr ' s life Pill ' s have now in Uieir possession upwards oi ufteen hanStei letters , several of them from Clergymen of the Church of England , nwny from distinguished issenting Ministers , fi » m gentlemen connected with the Army and Ifavv , also from Members of Parliament , Merchants , aud lasCiiongTi notleast , from members of the Medical Profession , and a sWlful Analytical Chemist ; all speaking in the highest terms of the value of tins inestimable medicine . This is a mass of evidence in its favour beyond all parallel . The extraordinary properties of this medici . ie are thus described by an eminent physician , who says , " After particular observation of the action of Parr ' s Pills , I am determined , in my opinion , that the following are their true properties : — "First—They increase the strength , whilst most other meJicines have a weakening effect upon the system , let any one take from three to four or sis piils every twentyfour hours , ana instean of having weakened , they will be found to have revived the aciinal spirits , and to have imparted a lastingstrengthtothebody . "Secondly—In their operation they go direct to the disease . After 50 U have taken six or twelve pills you will experience their effect ; the disease upon you will become less and less by every dose you take , ana if you persevere in regularly taking from three to six pills every day , your disease will speedily be entirely removed from the system . « Thirdly They are found after g iving them a fair trial fora few weeks to possess the most astonishing and invigorating properties , and they vill overcome all obstinate complaints , and restore sound health ; there is a return of good appetite shortly from the beginning of their use , whilst their mildness as a purgative is a desideratum greaflj required bj the weak ana aelicate , particularly where " violent rurging is acknowledged to be injurious instead of beneficial . Fourthly—As a general Family Medicine they are exceedingly valuable , and uo family should be without them ; they may be used with perfect safety in any disease , for to every disease they are of inestimable value . John Dale , Esq ., of Manchester , lecturer on Chemistry , ai > d Pupil of the late celebrated Dr . Datton , F-ll . S . , in a tetter addressed to the Proprietors in london , sajs : —' j beg to state I find them worthy of being recommended to thepublic fo rtheir effieacy . and simplicity , and to be really Tegetablepiils , containing , as they do , nothing but what is of vegetable origin . "With this assurance the public need have no fear of giving them a fair trial . "Fifthly—There is no medicine ever introduced to the public thathas become so universally popular with females as Parr ' s Life Pills . For all complaints peculiar to females they are of most astonishing efficacy ; and they are confidentlyrecommended to them for general use . A trial of a' box of these pills ' will at once prove the truth of f-Tiig assertion * IMPORTANT TO THE PUBLIC . " We consider we are performing an act of humanity to the community of Tan Dieman's land in acknowledging that statements hare been made to us by several persons who have taken Parr ' s life Pills , with the most beneficial effect to them . Accounts of their efficacy have been furnished us by various individuals who have taken them , since the supply furnished by the patentees in England to Mr . Bowling ; but they have generally savoured so much of the marvellous , that we have hesitated to make the statements public . Howerer , we are now satisSed from farther accounts given to us , that tollesitatelonger would be perpetratiag an act of criminal omission to our fellowcreatares , and hariug taken the pills ourselves with the most satisfactory result , -we perform an act of duty only in most strongly recommending the use of them to the public at large . " This we feel tLe more confidence in doing . knowing that under any circumstances they cannot do harm ; and our conscientious belief is , that they -cannot b- taken by any person without doing Mm good . " — Cornwall ( Van Dieman ' s LoaidJ Gasette , Dec . 23 rd , 1 SA 4 . The medicine of Old Parr is the most popular of the present day . It has been before the public only a few years ; and in this short period has firmly established itself in public favour , and has effected immense benefit to all who Lave obtained this inestimable medicine genuine . Hence the list of respactable names bearing evidence to the high character of this remedy , and testifyicg beyond the possibility of doubt the wonderful character of flie medicine by the number of extraordinary and decided cures wholly resulting from its use . This medicine , solely by reason of its high character , has extended itself to all parts of the world ; and therefore its healing ¦ v irtues may justly be considered , universal . They adapt themselves over the most tender gums , or remaining stumps , without causing the least pain , rendering the operation of extracting quite unnecessary . They are so fixed as to fasten any loose teeth where the gums have shrunk from the use of calomel or other causes . They also beg to invite those not liking to undergo any painful operation , as practised by most members of the profession , to inspect their painless jet effective system ; and in order that their improvements may be within the reach of the most economical , they will continue the same moderate charges . Cheetham Hill , July 22 nd , 1845 . Dear Sik , —Having been for a loug time troubled with a bad Cough , which at times was so bad that when I went to bed I could get no rest the night through ; I tried a great variety of medicines , from which I received but very ittle relief , until I made trial of Heating ' s Lozenges , which , I am happy to say , have been of great benefit to me ; for with taking one ov two during the day , and one at bed time , I can rest better than I have done for several years . As they have been of so much service to me , I think it my duty to make this known to the Public , and hope those who aro simiiui'ly nfllicted will make a trial of so valuable a remedy . —I remain , dear Sir , yours respectfullj , W . OPINIONS OF THE PSE 8 S . " We regard tte work before us , the "Silent Friend , " as a work embracing most clear and practical views of a series of complaints hitherto little understood , and passed over by the majority of the medical profession , for what reason we are at a loss to know . We must , however , confess that a perusal of this work has left such a favourable iir . pression on our minds , that we not only recommend , but cordially wish every one who is the victim of past folly , or suficrisg from indiscretion , to profit by the advice contained in its pages . "—Age and Argus . "Ths Authors of the "Silent Friend" seem to be thoroughly conversant with the treatment of a class of complaints which are , we fear , too prevalent in the present day . The perspicuous style in which this book is written , and the valuable hints it conveys to those who are apprehensive of entering the marriage state , cannot fail to recommend it to a careful perusal . "—Bra . " This work should be read by all who _ value health and ivish to enjoy life , for the truisms therein contained defyall doubt . —Farmer ? Journal . Venereal contamination , if not at lirst eradicated , will often remain secretly lurking in the system for years , and , although for a while undiscovered , at length break out upon the unhappy individual in its most dreadful forms ; or else , unseen , internally endanger the very vital organs of existence . To those suffering from the consequences which this disease may have left behind in the form of secondary symptoms , eruptions of Hie skin , blotches on tha head and face , uleerations and enlargement of the throat , tonsils , and threatened destruction of the nose , palate , < fcc , nodes on the shin bones , or any of those painful affections arising from the dangerous effects of the indiscriminate use of mercury , or the evils of an imperfect cure , the Concentrated Detersive Essence will be found to be attended with tbe most astonishing effects , in checking the ravages of the disorder , removing all scorbutic complaints , and effectually re-establishing the health of the constitution . To persons entering upon the responsibilities of matrimony , and who ever had the misfortune during their more youthful days to be affected with any form of these diseases , a previous course of this medicine is-highly essential , and of the greatest importance , as more serious affections are visited upon an innocent wife and offspring , from a want of these simple precautions , than perhaps half the world is aware of ; for , it must be remembered , where the fountain is polluted , the streams that flow from it cannot be pure . LONDON COUN EXCHANGE , MoXDAY , DEC . 8 . — In the past week the arrivals of English wheat up to our market , coastwise , were on a limited scale , and Df very micdling quality , the bulk of the samples proving greatly out of condition . By land carriage very few samples came to hand . Of Irish oats the receipts were by no means large , though they have proved fully adequate to meet the wants of the dealers . The imports of foreign grain were , comparatively speaking , small . Fresh up to-day very little EnglMi wheat came to hand ; hence the stands were scantily filled with samples . Owing , however , to the rumours afloat on the subject of a contemplated alteration in the corn-laws , the wheat trade was almost paralysed ; indeed , such was the heaviness in the trade that some
time elapsed before a single sale was concluded . We have , therefore , to quote a decline in tlie value of the finest parcels of both red and white of 2 s ., in that of the middling and inferior qualities of quite 3 s . per quarter , at which a clearance was not effected , many of the buyers refusing to purchase except at further reduced currencies . As might , therefore , be expected , the market closed with even a further downward movement in the quotations than we have above quoted . Of free foreign wheat the show was by no means large , but the before-mentioned causes operated against sales , and the currencies sufFered an abatement of from Is . to in some instances 8 s . per quarter , and at which amount of depression scarcely any sales were concluded . For wheat under lock there was
scarcely any inquiry : indeed , such was the heaviness : in the trade , that prices must be considered almost ] nominal . The show of English and foreign barley j was moderately good , but of very inferior quality , j In some cases , selected parcels fit for malting were j taken at about late rates ; but all other descriptions I declined in value Is . to 2 s . per quarter , and a large ! portion of such was left over for Wednesday ' s market . We had only a limited quantity of malt on offer , yet the sale for that article was very dull , at a decline of ; Is . per quarter . Although the show of oats was by ! no means large , the oat trade ruled extremely dull , j and the currencies declined from Is . to 2 s . per quar- ; fer . The almost only quality in demand was feed . ; The supply of beans was moderate , while the inquiry j waa very dull , and the quotations fell from Is . to 2 s . per quarter . Peas of all kinds , the show of which was large , moved off heavily at a reduction in value ! of from Is . to 2 s . per quarter . Flour very dull , and I the turn lower . London Smiiiifield Cattle Market , Monday , Djsc . 8 . — 'Die past week's imports of Jive stock into London have been again extensive , notwithstanding the present advanced period of the year ; we have received 34 oxen per the John Bull and Caledonia stetvmers IVom Hamburg , T 7 oxen , 101 cows , ( & « sheep , and 2 calves , per the Giraffee , Attwood , and the Commercial Packet from Rotterdam ; and 11 : ; cows , together witli 142 sheep by the Rapid , from Harlingen . At the outports 60 aheep and 07 beasts have been imported from Hull . To-day we hail on offer 150 foreign beasts , and 350 . sheep in , generall y I speaking , fair condition . Nearly the whole found I buyers at full prices . Fresh up to our market this I morning tiie arrival of beasts from our own grazing I districts were large , but for the most part of middling I oualitv . if we except the droves from the western I
counties . The attendance of both town and country buyers being large , the beef trade ruled lirm , at prices fully equal to those obtained on this day se ' nnigh * , and at which a good clearance was effected . From the northern counties we received about 2 , 6 |)|) shorthorns ; from the eastern 300 shorthorns and Scots ; from the western and midland counties 700 Herefords , Devons , runt * , &o . ; from other pai ts of England 4 . 00 of various kinds ; from Ireland 12 y beasts , and from Scotland 100 Scots . Although tk numbers of sheep were on the increase , the mutton trade was firm at full prices , the best old Downs readily producing 5 s . per S lbs . Livuitpooii Ooicf Maklkt , Moxdat , Dec . 8 . —Since last Tuesday we have had good supplies of flour and oatmeal from Ireland , but moderate of wheat ami oats from the same quarter . From Canada we have received 2 S 13 quarters of wheat , and 11 , 500 barrels of flour . There have been no arrivals of _ nny consequence from foreign ports . The recent fresh agitation of the Corn Law question lias served further to depress the grain trade here , and the business in any ,
article , during the past week , lias been on a Yery limited scale , with lower prices general !); . On Frii day new wheat was offend at a decline of 3 d . to 4 d ., and on old 2 d . per bushel ; on flour Is . to 2 s . per sack and barrel ; Id . per bushel on oats , and Is . ptr load on oatmeal . In the bonded market no transao tions of moment have transpired . United States Hour is offered at 30 s . per barrel . Manchester ( John Makket , Saturdat , Dec . 6—In the curly p . ivt of the week there was only a moderate consumptive demand for Hour , and where sales were effected , it was necessary to submit to a reduction of fully Is . per sack on all but the choicest quality . In oats aud oatmeal there was likewise but little passing , and the latter article misjlit have been purchased on lower terms . Subsequently , the revival of rumours relative to an abolition of the Corn
