Just Published , Price 2 a . 6 d . ( Or sent free to the most remote parts of tho Kingdom , in a sealed envelope , on the receipt of a post-office order for 3 s . 6 d . ) THE SECRET IVXEDICAIi ADVISER . BEING a practical Treatise on the prevention and cure of the VENEREAL DISEASE , and other affections of the urinary and sexual organs , in both sexes , with a mild and successful mode of treatment , in all their forms and consequences ; especially Stricture , Gleets , affections of the Bladder , Prostrate Glands , Gravel , &c . shewing also the dangerous consequences of Mercury , such as eruptions of the skin , pain in the bones , &c , with plain directions for a perfect restoration : embellished with engravings . An ample consideration of the diseases of women ; also nervous debility ; including a comprehensive dissertation on the anatomy of Marriage , impuiseance , celibacy , sterility or barronness , and various other interruptions of the Laws of Nature . AIpo some animadversions on the Seoret Sin of Youth , which entails such fearful consequences on its victims . gg- This Work is undeniably the most interesting and important that has hitherto been published on this subject , imparting information which ought te be in the possession of every ono who is labouring under any secret infirmity , whether male or female . BY M . WILKINSON , CONSULTING SURGEON , &c . ¦ 13 , Trafalgar Street , Leeds . Of whom they may beobtaiued , or from any of his Agents . MR . M . W . having devoted his studies for many years exclusively to the various diseases of the generative and nervous system , in the removal of those distressing debilities arising from a secret indulgence in a delusive and destructive habit , and to the successful treatment of VENEREAL AND SYPHILITIC DISEASES , Continues to bo consulted from nine in the morning till ten at night , and on Sundays till two , —and country patients requiring his assistance , by making only one personal visit , will receive such advice and medicines as will enable them to obtain a permanent and effectual cure , when all other means have failed . In recent cases of a certain disorder a perfect cure is completed in ono week , or no charge made for medicine after that period , and in those cases where other practititioners have failed , a perseverance in his plan , without restraint in diet , or hindrance from business , will ensure to the patient a permanent and radical cure . A complete knowledge of the symptoms and treatment of these insidious and dangerou 3 diseases , can only be acquired by those who are in daily practice , and have previously gone through a regular course of Medical Instruction ; for , unfortunately , there are hundreds who annually fall victims to the ignorant use of Mercury and other dangerous remedies , administered by illiterate men , who ruin the constitution by suffering disease to get into the system , which being carried by th 8 circulation of the blood into all parts of the body , the whole frame becomes tainted with venereal poison , and moat unhappy consequences ensue , at one time affecting the skin , particularly the head and face , with eruptions and ulcers , closely resembling , and often treated as scurvy , at another period producing the most violent pains in the limbs and bones , which are frequently mistaken for rheumatism ; thus the wholo frame becomes debilitated and decayed , and a lingering death puts a period to their dreadful sufferings . What a grief for a young person in the very prime of life , to bo snatched out of time , and from all the enjoyments of life , by a disease always local at first , and which never proves fatal if properly treated , as all its fatal results are owing either to neglect or ignorance . " ' Mr . W . ' s invariable rule is to give a Card to each of his Patients as a guarantee for cure , which he pledges himself to perform , or return his fee . For the accommodation of either sex , where distance or delicaoy prevents a personal visit , his PURIFYING DROPS , price 4 s . 6 d . can be had of any of the following agents , with printed directions so plain , that they may cure themselves without even the knowledge of a bed-fellow . They are particularly recommended to be taken before persons enter into the matrimonial state , lest the indiscretions of a parent are the source of vexation to him the remainder of his existence , by afflicting his innocent but uofoitunato offspring with the evil eruptions of the malignant tendency , and a variety of other complaints , tbat are most assuredly introduced by tbe same neglect and imprudence . . Mr . Wilkixs ( sTitb whom was Mr . Pashlky and Mr . Pickering ) appeared for tho prosecution ; Sir Gr . FGor . Y Lewis and Mr . Hall were for the defence . Mr . Wilki : < 5 Elated the cllso . The prisoner was indicied under aa Act of Parliament passed in the 7 ih ar . d 8 : h years of the rei ^ n of George IV ., which
provides that if any person shall cut , break , or cesiroy , or damage , with intent to destroy or render listless any loom , frame , machine , engine , or implement , fixed or moyeable , for manufacturing cotton warps , yormd , &c ., that person shall be deemed iiuiitv of felony . Tiie prosecutor resides at Horton , near Bradford , and is the owner of a mil ) , at the end of which is an engine , and by itsporcer the different ^ rorks are carried on wnhin the walls of the mill . Very eariy in the morning of the 27 ih of April , it was discovered that the engine would not work with anything like its usuai power . Information cf this circumstance was girea to tha prosecutor , who came to the mjii and examined the engine , but could discoyer nothing wrong . There was sufficient steam
, but the speed could not be kept up . Information was ser : t to the Bowling Iron Works for some experienced workmen , to see whether they could discover any defects in the engine , but their search was in Tain , and the engine -would not work . It so happened that on ; he t ' uira dav , a man named Squire Marker , who is in the ecpioy of Messrs . Barker and Co ., iron-founders , sought about the engine to see if there was aryihing conceited with it . He went to the back parr of ths engine under the floor , and discoyered several ) oose nones at the bottom , and oa puiiing out a stone underneath sn adjoining wail , he uiicovcred a tin tube , abous eighteen or nineteen inches long , which was open at the end . There was a valve in the tube which would let the air in , and
prevent it returning . Un examining the wall more closely , a stone appeared to have been recently inserted , as tho mortar was damp and soft . Barker called Mr . Bottomley , and he went down to examine the place . On removing some stones , they found the tin tube screwed on to some gas piping , which passed through a solid stone wall , and through the cistern into the condenser of the engine . The effect of the valve was to admit a current of air into the condenser , to destroy the vaccum , and thus considerably to diminish the power of the engine . Tne prisoner was employed by the prosecutor as hia
engine-tenter , and had been so for two years , during which time fee had eononcted iimself with much propr iety . The prosecutor had at first given him 28 i . per week , but in consequence of some improvement which the prisoner bad made in the engine with tho con rent of his employer , 32 s . per week waa giren him . The prisoner had the sole superintendence of the engine ; h © had the keys of u > fl room , and no other person had any right there save him aad his employer . On the morning of the 'J 7 th of April , the prisoner , instead of going to his \ vork , was observed in his best clothes , leaving the neighbourhood , and was never seen again by i'he prosecutor till he had been apprehended .
After the evidence for the prosecution had been adduced , Sir G . Lewis asked his Lordship whether be thought the evidence supported the indictment . One of the witnesses was re-called , who stated that MesfTS Bottomely and Co ., manufactured what was called Orleans cloih , the warp being made of cotton , <

and the weft worsted . Messrs Hill and Smith were worsted spinners only . The learned Judge thought that in order to sustain this indictment , the engine 6 hould be employed in manufacturing and preparing woollen good ? , without any mixture , and also of preparing and manufacturing cotton goods , that was to say , making entire warps . The engine was employed for neither of those purposes , and , therefore he , ( the Judge ) thought the evidence did not sustain the indictment . The Jury , under his Lordships direction , found the prisoner Not Guilty , but we understand that another indictment will be preferred .

THURSDAY , AUG . 25 . SPECIAL COMMISSION . Mr . WoaTLEY this morning stated to his Lordship , that be was instructed to make a motion on behalf of the Attorney General , with reference to the casss of William Cockroft and other prisoners , who had been committed to York Castle for trial , since the commencement of these asaizjs , for offences connected with the disturbances which have lately preroiled in this country The motion which he had to make to his Lordship was this—that these prisoners should remain upon thtir commitments until a apecial commiesion should bo issued . He made the motion upon the affidavit o * Mr . Muule , the solicitor to the treasury , from which it appeared that there were at that moment 111 prisoners who had been sent for trial for various offences which
had arisen since the commencement o ( the assizes ; and there were also fifty-six ethers in custody in York Castle , who had been sent there to await an examination on a future occasion . The affidavit fnrther Htated that other prisoners were likely to be committed , and that it was in contemplation to advise b ^ r Majesty to issue a special commission for the trial of these offenders , as well as others charged with the like offences , it waa also sworn th ? . t there had not been ptifficient time to conMder the cases , and that only a Email portion of the d > positions taken before magistrates in different psrta of tho county , had as yet been transmitted to the Secretary of State , and that the officers of the Government who had instituted these prosecutions had not had and would not have sufficient time , if this motion were not assented to , to prepare the prosecutions on the various cases .
Mr . Justice Maule said , that having sat for a fortnight , and with the probability of sitting another fortnight , he had co wish to prolong the assizes ; but he did not think the affidavit sufficient to justify the implication , as it did not specify any pnrticular prisoners , n * r did it Btate , except in a Ioc 3 e way , that other evidence was likely to be forthcoming , It merely stated that it was believed that important evidence might be expected , but it did not show the exiatecco of any grounds for expecting it . This amounted to nothing at all . Mr . Wortley said , the affidavit alleged that there had not been sufficitnt time to obtain eopies of all dbpositions , to peruse those which bad been obtained , so as to classify the cists , and to prepare the indictments necessary to prosecute the several prisoners .
Mv . Justice Maule said he did not think he could make any order , until he had heard what the prisoners referred to Lid to say upon the Buljict ; and therefore the motion must stand over for the present . Henry Harris , 27 , was charged with having , on the 24 th of July , at the parish o ? Linthorpe , in the North Riding , feloniously assaulted Elizi Richards , and committed a rape oa her person . Wortley , resumed his application for adjourning the trial of one hundred and two prisoners confined in York castle on charges of riot His Lordship bad received an amended affidavit , containing the names of the prisoners to whfch tills application extended , but he was not able to carry the statements further than in . the affidavit he made yesterday . Notice had bsen given to all the prisoners , by reading it over to them , of the nature of this application , and therefore they ha * an opportunity of oppesing it .
Mr . Newton said he wag instructed by three prisoners , Rushworth , Brook , and Gibbons , te oppose this application . Ke csmplained that such a surveillance had been kept up in the gaol that free access could not be had with the prisoners , for the purpose of preparing their defence . Mr . Worxley said , that hia application did not apply to any of the prisoners for whom Mr . Newton appeared .
Mr . Justice Ma » lb . —In all doubtful cases , beyond doubt , the proper course was to grant a rule nisi . He had considered this application and the affidavit on which it was made . He had taken aa opportunity of consulting with Lord Denman , and npon a full consideration he bad come to a conclusion , in -which he had the authority of Lord Denman for stating that his LortUhip fully concurred , that this affidavit did not set out sufficient grounds for granting bo general an application—and therefore , acting with the full concurrence of Lord Denman , he refused the application . Inn Greenwood , 25 , was charged with the murder of Emily Greenwood , her daughter , by suffocating her in a privy . The evidence failed in bringing borne the charge against the prisoner , and the Jury consequently brought in a Terdict of Not Guilty .
