WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON SITTING . Jopeph Sturge Esq ., in ihe chair . Mr . Rj ' -ertu , ou the part of the Election Committee , r . ported that the Cummittea had decided that the four gautlemen chosen at the pub ic meeting at Newcastle were duly elected , aud tbe gentleman chosen by a poll of the inhabitants were not duly elec : ed , but the Committee recommend that tbe Iafet . tr gentleman be allowed to sit and speak in the Conference , but not to vote . This report of the Committee was received and adoptpd , Mr . Thomas Cooper opened the adjourned debate . Dr . Glover moved a third amendment , which was not seconded .
Previous to tbo vote being taken , Mr . Lovett stated that , in his anxiety for uni «> n , he bad made tbe following propositions to tbo leading members of tbe Complete Suffrage Union : —That both tbe propositions tot priority should be withdrawn . That tbo two documents ( tho People ' s Charter , and the Bill as prepared by the Council ) should belaid , on the table . Tbat the clauses of tbe two documents should be lead and discussed alternately . Tbat thus having extracted all th . it was valuable in both , and formed a BUI , tbat this Bill should go forth to the country without any other title than "A Bill to provide for the just representation of the People . " But ho ( Mr . Lovett ) regretted to say , that this reasonable proposal was not acceeded to , those gentlemen rather wishing that the motion and amendments should go to the vote .
