JL he Marquis < of Laxsdownk rose to move the second _reading of the Bill for granting to persons not conforming to the Church , of England , relief from the operation of the Marriage Act . He stated that the Bill before their Lordships purported to relieve Protestant Dissenters and Catholics from that compulsive conformity to the service of the Church of England , which was _inconsistent with any principles of toleration _. _tkms scruples . He did not anticipate any denial of the general principle on which the Bill rested .
